You Are My Sunshine

Wednesday, May 1st, 2013

My next-door neighbor died 2 months ago. He was in his late eighties. He left a beautiful widow. At his funeral they said his favorite song was “You Are My Sunshine.” I thought I’d draw up a little doodle for my sweet friend, Lavon, his surviving wife.

So I went to a beautiful wedding reception tonight for the lovely Jessica and her husband, Zachary.  Great night!

Voting Party 2012

So…we had a little Voting Party last night. It was so exciting watching the results come in as the kiddos colored their state maps in with red or blue. We ate homemade brownies and ice cream and had a lot of fun. We were disappointed that Mitt didn’t win, as he was our candidate of choice. However, we sincerely congratulate Barack Obama and we will stand behind him as United Americans. We truly live in a wonderful and blessed country and we will continue to pray for the success of it. God Bless America! I love what my church leaders said about the outcome of the election:

The First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints issued the following statement Tuesday:

We congratulate President Obama on winning a second term as President of the United States.

After a long campaign, this is now a time for Americans to come together. It is a long tradition among Latter-day Saints to pray for our national leaders in our personal prayers and in our congregations. We invite Americans everywhere, whatever their political persuasion, to pray for the President, for his administration and the new Congress as they lead us through difficult and turbulent times. May our national leaders reflect the best in wisdom and judgment as they fulfill the great trust afforded to them by the American people.

We also commend Governor Romney for engaging at the highest level of our democratic process, which, by its nature, demands so much of those who offer themselves for public service. We wish him and his family every success in their future endeavors.

Piano Competition

Sunday, November 4th, 2012

So my kiddos played in two piano competitions yesterday and Friday. Lots of nerves beforehand and lots of relief, celebration, and yummy Cold Stone ice cream after they were done. Here is a short video of the quartet warming up before going in to perform for the judge:

Here is the cutest-little-trio-you-ever-did-see rehearsing at their piano teacher’s home before the big event:

Saturday at Sundance

Monday, October 1st, 2012

If you are in Utah in the fall, you must visit Sundance. These pictures don’t do it justice as many of them are just phone pics. It was so beautiful! We brought up a picnic and had fun looking at the many vendor booths. We didn’t ride, but for $10 a person you can ride on the ski lifts and get a bird’s eye view of the gorgeous changing leaves.

A lovely friend of mine gave me this wooden bench a few years ago. It was getting a little worn as I’ve had it outside. Hubby and I decided to paint it. Another lovely friend gave me the paint color idea. I think it turned out great. Yay!
