Colorful, Healthy, After-School Snack

Tuesday, October 2nd, 2012

Keeping up with after-school snacks is kinda hard for me. Especially because I want to try to make things healthy as much as I can around here. I don’t always succeed, but I’ve noticed that if healthy things are colorful, they are more interesting to my kids. :)

Frozen blueberries, small sweet peppers, frozen peas:

I’m missing the color blue in this rainbow of food…how ’bout a blue tablecloth? 😉

Fruit Pizza and a Piano Recital

Our kids had their end-of-year piano recital at their piano teacher’s house a couple of weeks ago. It was so fun to see their progress. I made a fruit pizza for dessert. There are several yummy recipes online for fruit pizza. I just bought refrigerated cookie dough for the crust (it was so much easier!) and used cream cheese and powdered sugar for the frosting. Then I topped it with blueberries, kiwi, strawberries and raspberries. YUM! Definitely a taste of summer.

Mustache Monday: Tootsie Roll Style

Monday, February 28th, 2011

SO we had another Mustache Monday today. In addition to painting mustaches on our kids during the night, we made these tootsie roll mustaches as a family this evening. FuN and SiLLiNeSs! If you want to make some with your lovelies, watch this video to find out how. Have fun! (click on any of these images to view larger..)

Bread Cornucopias

Thursday, November 18th, 2010

I found this awesome idea today from The Idea Room and I was so excited to try it out with my kids. Instead of making normal size breads, we made mini-cornucopia loaves so the kids could participate.

After they came out of the oven, we stuffed them with butter, honey, brown sugar, cinnamon, etc.  It was so much fun!

Rainbow Snack

Friday, March 5th, 2010

For an after-school snack the other day, I decided to make little rainbows out of fruit with small bowls of cream cheese and marshmallow creme for dipping. They were eaten right up!
