Giant Cookies

Tuesday, August 28th, 2012

A few weeks ago the kids and I made some giant cookies. Such a fun and simple activity. I made a batch of cookie dough and then gave the kids their own bowls filled with toppings:

Then the kids had at it and decorated away:

Everyone enjoyed the sweet rewards:

Do you think they put enough toppings on?! hehe

And I made a little cookie subway art:

cookies=everybody happy :)

Star Wars Birthday Party

Thursday, August 23rd, 2012

So my son wanted a Star Wars Birthday party this year. There was SO much great material to use from Pinterest and other sites on the internet. I think the boys had a lot of fun making their own lightsabers, having jedi-training and battles. For lunch we served yoda soda (lime sherbet with sprite), thermal detonators (grapes), han dogs (hot dogs–I know it’s a stretch…), wookie cookies, and carbonite jello (a Han Solo figurine in jello.) We even had a Darth Vader appearance. Fun stuff! (click on any picture to view larger)

Lemonade Stand

Wednesday, August 22nd, 2012

We’ve got cousins in town, so for the last week before school my mom thought up some fun activities for all.  One was this fun lemonade stand.  Everyone helped to make cookies, lemonade, signs and decorations for the stand.  The kids had such a great time!  Enough money was made from the sales to go bowling with all of their cousins.  Such a great way to soak up those last few moments of summer.  (click on any image to view larger)
